Developers have it down to a science

Whereas American politicians see their campaign donations come from a cornucopia of lobby groups with dogmatic political philosophies, municipal politicians in Halifax receive donations from various businesses and developers who are far less interesting than lobby groups and therefore, less funny.

In a classic episode of The Simpsons, Homer discloses an important life-lesson to Bart and Lisa. “You tried your best and failed miserably. The lesson is: never try.” 

I will echo those words of wisdom to those poor souls that put their own money into their failed bids to be the newest councillors in Halifax. 

You invested your money in the worst stock possible: yourself.

Tips continue to trickle in suggesting that Dartmouth Councillor Gloria McCluskey is “out to get” flea marketeer Dale Rissesco, operator of the Woodside Weekend Market on Pleasant Street.

The market has encountered numerous problems, including police dropping by after an anonymous tip of stolen merchandise on the premises, since it first opened in the fall of 2012 (Frank 652).
