Earlier this summer Justice Art Pickup sentenced mom, 52-year-old Michelle Rhyno, and son, Michael Rhyno, 20, to more than three years’ federal time apiece for their crime, committed in 2011.

Westville police officer shorts teen?

A Westville mum is up in arms after she says her 16-year-old son had a run-in with local police which left him with “marks on his face right down to his knees”.

The teen, who can’t be identified under the Young Offenders Act or whatever they’re calling it now, was arrested for public intoxication July 10. He’s since turned 17.

Parole Board got it right about this one

Kentville’s Andrew Christopher Barrett, 26, pleaded guilty to luring a child over the internet and possessing child pornography in Dartmouth Provincial Court on July 22. 

When charges were laid in May, Barrett was released from custody on $10,000 bail and ordered to stay inside his parents’ Nicholas Street, North Kentville home. The same conditions will apply until he is sentenced.
