When politicians get smacked with criminal charges, the ensuing fallout can result in dots being connected with other political scandals.

In the case of embattled London, Ont. Mayor Joe Fontana, who is facing charges stemming back from his days as a Liberal labour minnie, some of the connections being made are accurate. Others, not so much.

It’s all good, minister says

Property Valuation Services Corporation, revealed in a July Coast article to be selling supposedly private property information, will apparently not face any kind of penalty from Service Nova Scotia.

I asked Minister John MacDonell if any disciplinary action would be taken against PVSC, which began selling property sales info to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation in 2009.

The friendly skies of our Bluenose MPs

Federal Speaker Andrew Scheer tabled the 2011-2012 member’s expenditures report on Halloween, appropriately enough.

Covering April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012, the national total number for MP expenses comes to $121,325,672.19, down from 2011/10’s total figure of $133,344,872.81.
