There’s an apartment building in Glace Bay that is becoming famous for all the wrong reasons.

At one time it was known as “Sonny’s Store.” Then people called it the “old store,” and now it’s “oh that place.” 

It’s now a five-unit apartment building owned by Yvonne Matheson. Her son, Rob Matheson, a convicted drug dealer, collects the rent at the West Avenue pile.

I see where New Waterford native Dr.Harvey Christopher Hyson has landed himself in a bit of hot water in his new place of residence, London, Ont.

Back in April, the good doctor — a neurologist and board member of London Health Sciences Centre — was charged with internet luring and communicating for the purpose of paying for sexual services of a person under 18 years of age.

Scott Boyd is auditioning for yet another new role, that of political wife. Er, I mean, husband.

Leah Boyd, who I believe to be the former BT host/failed political candidate’s third wife, is seeking the District 5 seat (Northend/Downtown Sydney) on CBRM Council.

Tom Wilson currently represents the area, but he’ll be seeking to represent the new District 6.
