When my daughter Seanna was born in July 1960, her mother’s medical expenses were paid by Maritime Medical Care and Blue Cross. Maritime Medical Care was owned and controlled by the doctors of Nova Scotia. I was a subscriber through my work at Maritime Broadcasting. They picked up the bulk of the tab and the rest was covered by Blue Cross.
